About the Author
Michael Emmerich has translated more than a dozen books of Japanese fiction and nonfiction, including novels by Banana Yoshimoto and Yasunari Kawabata. He is an assistant professor of East Asian languages and cultural studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
